The exhibition ‘Idea of a collection’ brings together a careful selection of pieces that hoard the contemporary art collections that have been born and have been consolidated in the Region of Murcia.

The intention of relating works of different origins to each other within the framework of a curated project accounts for the context of creation in which these works have been made, the genealogies and interests that motivated the artists at that time, the formal trends, fashions and schools to which they belonged, in short, a synthesis of the times that we have had to live and that the artists have translated, a reflection of contemporary society through several generations.

The top artists that are part of the history of 20th century art such as: Juan Genovés, Esteban Vicente and Soledad Sevilla dialogue with those of the generation that succeeds them: Prudencio Irazábal, Elena del Rivero, Juan Asensio, Juan de Sande, Gonzálo Puch and Pablo Genovés, and in turn are incardinated with the proposals of the youngest artists who represent the most current contemporary creation, is the case of: Álvaro Albaladejo, Javier Pividal, Mark Hosking, Kirsten Hutsch, Aitor Lajarín, Pablo Capitán del Río, Alejandra Freymann, Sergio Porlán or Manuel M. Romero. They all use a common grammar to communicate their ideas; the allusion to the enigma, the subtlety, the importance of the gesture, the reflection or the color, as tools to explain the concerns of society.
