Ships of Mnemosyne

The Artnueve Gallery celebrates on February 11 the inauguration of the exhibition “Naves de Mnemosine” by the artist Ana Martínez ,

“Explore the past to understand the present and dream of a future.”

Ana Martínez presents a series of works that transform inherited things and demonstrate that memory does not only belong to the past but that, through the mediation of art, it is always directed towards the future.

Ana Martínez has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alonso Cano Faculty of Granada and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the University of Murcia. His work addresses as the main idea the relationship of the body with space, with the environment it inhabits over time, and in memory through the reformulation of objects.

Exhibition text
“Ana Martínez’s latest project has its origin in the need to reconcile with a collection of inherited things, to preserve her memory and, at the same time, to project it into the future. The works that are part of this exhibition transform this collection of inherited objects into science fiction motifs.

In these works, objects are transformed into spaceships or open to the infinity of outer space. In this way, the stories that they store and that now inhabit a new world, in the renewed present of the artist, travel through time to a future yet to come. “
